How IslandDealz picks deals
Content updated October 2, 2026
IslandDealz compares today's price with the "typical price" it has recorded itself, every day — not the full price a shop sets. That catches the trick of raising a price before a sale and "discounting" it back.
Where the data comes from
Prices come from the product file Shopee provides to Affiliate members, refreshed once a day. IslandDealz stores the price of every size and flavour, so price per kg, per litre or per 100 g is right for the exact pack.
The rules
- At least 14 days of data before any verdict
- "Typical price" = the median over the last 14–30 days of data, not the average, so one big sale day can't skew it
- A "deal" is at least 15% below the typical price and the lowest IslandDealz has recorded
- Units sold, ratings and shop type are shown as numbers for you to judge — IslandDealz doesn't use them to hide products
- The commission IslandDealz earns can only break an exact tie between two deals
Verdict labels
- Collecting data — less than 14 days of history, no verdict yet
- Buy now (says Jiw) — a real deal, and past sale days were never cheaper
- Can wait (says Richie) — a good price, but past sale days were cheaper and the next sale is close
- Normal price — close to typical; fine if you've run out, no need to rush
- Not worth it yet (says Richie) — above the typical price
What IslandDealz doesn't know yet
- Shipping, which depends on your address — so IslandDealz shows two backup shops in case shipping is expensive
- Your personal vouchers and Shopee coins
- Price changes during the day — the site updates once a day, so check the price on Shopee before you buy
